WINTER 07 UPDATE FROM PREACHER DAVE CRISPELL
"THE CRUSADER"
OFFICAL PUBLICATION OF CHRIS-CROSS CRUSADES-810 MARKET ST, BERWICK, PA-18603 EMAIL: CCC68@NETZERO.NET
WINTER 2007 UPDATE:
Well, the year started off
with a trip to FL, to get things opened up and ready for our winter of ministry.
I traveled back to PA for a Local church preaching engagement.
I also was involved with a weeklong Prison Revival with the Rock of Ages Prison Ministry.
We were at the three Federal institutions at Allenwood, PA.
We had several days at the Low, Medium, and Maximum-security units.
Overall there were nine men that we personally led to the Lord.
There were also a large number of men that responded to getting certain things right with the Lord in their lives.
February began with my return to Southwest FL.
It didn’t take me long to end up in prison again. (ministering, of course)
I am involved in a program called "New Directions" at the county level. It is a Christ centered program where the men are in a separate unit (some call it the God Pod) It is a several month program to get inmates that have received Christ grounded in their faith.
They have about a 20% vs 80% recidivism rate. That is just opposite of the normal rate which is 80% vs 20%.
In other words 80% of the New Direction guys don’t return to crime and prison.
In the normal corrections system 80% do return to crime and prison.
Put another way, that is 80% less potential robberies, assaults, rapes, and other violent crimes that do not take place.
It is really exciting to teach these men the Bible Truths that will not only set them free, but also keep them free. (Ro. 8:32)
I also have opportunity to minister in the Hendry Correctional Institution’s facilities.
This consists of a Main Unit and work camp 50 miles out in the middle of the state and work camp right next to the Lee Co Stockade (where the New Directions program is held).
Hendry CI is the facility where my credentials have been having some difficulty being renewed. I only have provisional clearance, which is limited to only so many times in. Please pray that this will soon be resolved so that I will have unlimited access to even the most restricted parts of the prison.
I do these ministries under the umbrella of our home church (south) Coral Ridge Baptist Church.
THE BOOK: AS FREE AS YOU WANT TO BE
With the help of a dear friend of our ministry, and the spending of many hours editing and preparing the book A.S.F.A.Y. W. B, for printing I trust that I will soon be able to make it available to those taking the As Free As You Want To Be Seminar in prisons and out.
SCHEDULING-SCHEDULING AND MORE SCHEDULING:
As usual, I am spending much time scheduling future ministry opportunities.
The spring and summer hold two big events.
First, is a trip to the Philippines, April 12-23, to be part of a team of three to teach national pastors gathered in Manila.
I will have 7- 10 teaching/preaching sessions during the conference (what an opportunity and what a responsibility) much preparation time will be necessary.
The other is my involvement with Operation Saturation in the Arctic of Alaska and the normal camp and mission flying. Operation Saturation is a combined effort of Missionaries Ronnie & Rebecca Starr and Mission Air Care (Earl and Lynn Malpass).
Our mission will be to hand deliver an Arctic addition of the Bible and a DVD of native salvation testimonies to each home in each and every village inside the Arctic Circle.
This is a monumental task and will take at least two or three summers to accomplish. There will also be preaching services held where we are able.
The plan is to, as well, encourage missionary pastors that are in some of these villages and hopefully see a small group of believers come about that will grow into a church. I usually spend a month in Alaska (mid-June to mid-July) however; this summer may necessitate staying longer, possibly into August.
There is still Caribbean and South America ministry pending this winter.
Lord willing, we also will be ministering in Maine and South Eastern Canada with Missionary Pastor/pilot Todd Bell.
LOCAL CHURCH MINISTRY:
As well as, the prison ministry and mission trips we continue to schedule many meetings in Fundamental Bible Preaching Churches.
For instance, we have a Sunday to Sunday series of meetings in one church in PA running from Memorial Day weekend into the first week of June. Now there is a brave pastor.
So you can see the logistical juggling act that all this takes.
THEN, LIFE HAPPENS:
You probably know the above saying by experience.
Yes, among all these above mentioned ministry items life happens.
Pat and I are in that Sandwich generation between the kids, grand/great grandkids and my elderly parents that are in their eighties.
We certainly desire to balance all of these things in a way that is honoring to our Lord. So you can see why we depend so much on your praying for us.
DID I MENTION?
The ongoing study and development of materials
fresh messages.
Keeping current on all my flying requirements.
Advanced training for future opportunities.
Well, I don’t know about you reading all this, but, just putting all this in print is enough for me to go take a nap.
THE ECONOMICS OF ALL THIS:
I am sure that I don’t need to tell you that there is not only a lot of energy needed to accomplish all this for our Lord, but there is also a lot of economics involved.
We are so very grateful to those that give as Our Lord directs and supplies.
Just to name a few items:
The Philippines mission trip could cost $2,500.00
The Alaska mission trip could cost $2,000.00
Yours for the cause of Christ,
Dave and Pat Crispell
