SOUTH DAKOTA TAKE BRAVE AND BOLD LEAP!
http://www.sermonaudio.com/new_details.asp?ID=21126
http://www.sermonaudio.com/new_details.asp?ID=21121
The two articles above point in two opposite direction.
The first speaks of the vote by the South Dakota Legislature to
outlaw most abortions.
The second speaks of an office holder in Holland that wants to
have forced abortion and contraception.
Now, no doubt, there are those in our own government that would do
the same if they thought they could.
I certainly applaud SD's Legislature for their brave and bold leap toward
life.
All of our state branches of government, as well as, the US Supreme Court, needs to take heed to what is stated in:
Pro 24:11 If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain;
Pro 24:12 If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?
Well, that's the way it looks from here,

WHAT IS UNFAIR TO THE CHILDREN?
http://www.sermonaudio.com/new_details.asp?ID=21106
In the above article the science community is calling on churches to support
the theory of evolution for the sake of the children. They say it will, "threaten the scientific literacy of students if something like "intelligent design" is introduced into the classroom.
Let me say here that I appreciate the motives of the ID people; however, I don't agree with all
the process. This being said, let us get back to the issue at hand.
The statement about the scientific literacy of the students shows just how we that are of a biblical creationist worldview, are worlds apart for the evolutionists worldview.
What they consider to be contributing to the scientific literacy of students by teaching them the theory of evolution, we consider the opposite. In fact, I would liken it unto that spoken of in Matt. 18:6; "But whosoever shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for a millstone to hanged about his neck and he were drown in the depth of the sea."
It is very obvious that the Lord Jesus took very seriously the treatment of children. In fact, I would remind us of the command to us parents, fathers in particular, as well as, the church, in regard to biblical instruction, as stated in:
Deu 6:7 "And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up."
We need to make sure that our children have a high degree of biblical literacy.

V.P. CHENEY-SHOOT HEARD AROUND THE WORLD!
Is it just me or is there a great deal of overkill over a hunting accident that resulted in a friend being wounded? I certainly do not want to minimize the seriousness of this event; however, to place the media attention on it that it has received seems to me to be ridiculous.
If this had been you or I, it would, more than likely, not have gotten beyond our local media.
To try and make this such an issue, is to show the desperation of some to yell fire where there isn't even any smoke.
Pro. 15:18 states: "A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife."
Let us be peace makers and not trouble makers.

Did Jesus exist? Case dismissed
http://www.sermonaudio.com/new_details.asp?ID=21061
The above article tells of a judge dismissing the "Did Jesus exist case".
While in one sense I consider it a frivolous lawsuit; on the other hand, "I say have at it".
Let them have to display the overwhelming evidence, not only for Jesus' existence, but for His
resurrection.
I would like to see the major news outlet have to tell the truth as revealed.
There are lots and lots of testimonies of people just like this individual that started
off trying to disprove our Lord's existence. After careful research, they all came to
the overwhelming conclusion that not only did He exist, but they came to know Him
personally by Faith.
Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

WE REPRODUCE OUR OWN KIND!
http://www.sermonaudio.com/new_details.asp?ID=21048
Five million new churches, now that sounds great, or is it?
Of course, I would love to see 5 million New testament Churches.
So that's the point. What kind of churches will these new ones be?
In the above article it mentions the group that is putting forth this effort.
My concern is that the churches that are planted by this group will not be
after the New testament model, but will, in stead be reproductions of churches
that have traded powerful preaching for palatable platitudes, and Holy conviction for happy clappy.
2 Tim. 4:3; "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lust shall heap to themselves teachers, having itchings ears;"

IS BIG, BAD?
http://www.sermonaudio.com/new_details.asp?ID=21036
In the above article, there is a discussion of the mega-church phenomenon.
Now I have never pastored a mega-church, but I have attended a few.
I, therefore, am speaking mainly from what I have read and heard, and a little experience.
When you are used to small for so long, big seems like a, well, big thing.
However, in my simple way of viewing the biblical account of the early church, it was
a mega-church by today's standard.
Acts 4:32; "And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common."
Acts 5:12; "And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonder wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch."
It is very evident that the early New Testament church was a very effective church.
It was extremely evangelistic, and had a huge impact on its surrounding society and culture.
There is much pro and con that has been said about the modern mega-church movement with which I agree. This being said, I would welcome a return of the First New Testament (Mega) Church model; (excepting those things that were unique for that day, of course).
