WAS SHARON'S STROKE A SOVEREIGN STRIKE??

In the above two links both an article about Pat Robertson's comment about Sharon's stroke, and the comments of some New Evangelical leaders stating their disagreement with Robertson.

First, I want to say that I didn't personally hear Robertson's comments so I often question the validity of such reports. However, I will comment on what has been reported.

So, was this an act of God's punishment on Sharon?
Well, let's answer a few questions up front.

Could God have struck Sharon? Of course He could have.
Speaking to king Nebuchadnezzar the Prophet Daniel said in; Da. 4:25; "...till thou know that the most high ruleth in the kingdom of men and giveth it to whomsover he will."
Would God strike Sharon? There is biblical evidence that God struck Jewish leaders in the past. 2 Sam. 16:14, states; "But the spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him."

Did God strike Sharon? It is possible that He did, but it is possible that He didn't. So without a specific Divine announcement to that effect I certainly will not put both feet in my mouth.

What is certain is that God in His sovereignty is able to strike, or remove His hand of protection from, and intervene in the decision making of any human leader.

Pro 21:1 The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever, he will.

Well, that's the way it looks from hear.
